Crossing the North Fork of the legendary Shenandoah River, the bridge is Virginia’s longest lined bridge, spanning a size of 204 feet over the water. Constructed in 1894, the bridge carried travelers over the river for greater than 80 years before being destroyed by vandals in 1976. It was eventually reconstructed from the salvaged timbers of the unique bridge, making a scenic route via the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The 1,900-acre property now serves as a historic museum that is open for public excursions, as well as providing nature trails that showcase the remarkable surroundings of the grounds.
